01 · The brief

A website with as much personality as the artist behind it.

Howard Spielman had spent decades as an art educator, television writer and producer, and fine artist. His digital work transformed ordinary subjects into intensely colored, highly detailed compositions created one digital brushstroke at a time.

The brand and website needed to feel personal, intelligent and energetic—while giving collectors a simple way to experience, understand and purchase the work.

02 · The mark

The artist was already signing the answer.

The identity began with Howard's own signature. Refined into a flexible logo, it brought authorship and personality to every page without competing with the art. The mark feels less like a corporate stamp and more like the final gesture on a finished piece.

04 · The story

Collectors needed to hear the excitement, too.

Howard's creative process was inseparable from his personality. Prominent video content let visitors hear him describe the hundreds of hours behind a piece, his digital tools and the remarkable career that also included co-creating the acclaimed television series Dead Man's Gun with his brother.

The videos made the site more than a catalog. They gave visitors a way to meet the artist.

05 · The outcome

A living gallery for an expansive body of work.

The finished identity and website gave Howard a platform that could hold the full range of his career: a recognizable signature, a vivid portfolio, a direct sales channel and a richer record of the ideas behind the art.

Most importantly, the design did not tame the work. It gave the color, humor and curiosity a structure strong enough to let them lead.

Designed around the artist—not a template
